Women's Health Basics
Breast Cancer
Breast cancer can occur in women, and rarely in men. It's important to get screened, and be proactive.
Cervical Cancer
Cervical cancer starts in the lower part of your uterus or womb. The good news is, it can be detected early through regular screening.
Talk to Your Doctor
It's important to speak with your doctor about your particular risk factors and how often you should be screened for any conditions you are concerned about.

The Women's Health and Cancer Rights Act
According to the Women’s Health and Cancer Rights Act of 1998, as a health plan that covers benefits for mastectomies (surgical removal of all or part of the breast and sometimes associated lymph nodes and muscles), we’re also required to cover breast reconstruction and prostheses.
If you get a mastectomy, the following services are covered for all members:
- Reconstruction of the breast on which the mastectomy was performed
- Surgery and reconstruction of the other breast to produce a symmetrical appearance
- Prosthesis and treatment of physical complications at all stages of the mastectomy, including lymphedema
We encourage you to discuss treatment options with your doctor. Please refer to your member contract for information about any deductibles, coinsurance, and copayments that may apply to breast reconstruction coverage.
