Thomas E. Schenk, M.D.
Executive Vice President, Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Thomas Schenk joined Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield of Western New York in June 2014 and is the company’s executive vice president, chief medical officer.
Schenk provides operational oversight for the company’s clinical strategy, network and medical management infrastructure, and all medical affairs, with the goal of ensuring excellence linked to quality outcomes and sound business results.
Previously, he served as managing partner at Delaware Pediatric Associates. He is a founding member of the Optimum Physician Alliance (OPA) and has served on the organization’s Physician Leadership Board for more than two years. He completed his internship and residency at Women and Children's Hospital of Buffalo.
Schenk is a graduate of Cornell University and the University at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. He serves as chairman of the Population Health Collaborative; is secretary of HEALTHeLINK and is on the board on the New York eHealth Collaborative.
