Introducing Blue Fund

Blue Fund is a grant program that makes meaningful investments to improve the health and sustainability of our community. Our region is going through a transformational time. From innovative businesses to a vibrant downtown, Western New York continues to rise to the challenge. We see this pivotal moment as an opportunity. The Blue Fund is proud to contribute to the wider strategy of our company-wide Bright Blue Futures initiative, our charitable giving and community involvement program. As an enterprise, we believe our working in partnership with communities and providers within our footprint is critical to achieve lasting positive outcomes.

Our Focus

Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield of Western New York is committed to eliminating health disparities and improving the health of the communities we serve.  Blue Fund focuses on the following health areas: behavioral health, cardiovascular health, health care workforce development, maternal health, and healthy children. We’re looking to partner with nonprofits that are improving racial and health equity, including supporting under-resourced communities with poor social determinants of health.

Key Health Areas

Key health areas were chosen based on public health studies, our own claims data, and input from community leaders. We believe these areas of focus have the highest impact on the overall health and well-being of Western New York residents. Providing funding to local organizations will help us to reach further and support greater change than we could alone.
