Nutrition

A balanced diet is essential for our mental health. Moods and feelings can be dependent on the nutrients in our diet, including essential fats, amino acids, vitamins, minerals and water. You can learn more at one of BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York's Nutrition Program seminars and support groups.

Exercise

Studies reveal that exercise reduces anxiety, depression, and improves self-esteem and cognitive functioning. It is also positively associated with quality of life of those living with schizophrenia (Journal of Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse, 2004). There are many ways to incorporate physical activity into your daily routine.

Stress Management

It is normal to be stressed sometimes, but it's important to know how to cope with it. The National Institute of Mental Health and Wellness provides more information on how stress can affect your health.
