BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York announced the appointment of Douglas Parks as the company’s senior vice president, chief human resources officer.
A well-versed human resources executive, Parks will be responsible for establishing and driving strategies to optimize human capital, build culture, engagement, capability, and capacity through integrated talent acquisition, development, and deployment processes.
Most recently, Parks served as EmblemHealth’s vice president, human resources strategy and transformation. There, he was largely responsible for a 28% improvement in core engagement scores. Parks has also held roles as partner and global human resources leader at Mercer, strategic business partner at ITT Exelis, and managing consultant at IBM Global Business Services.
“Doug is an accomplished leader with significant human resources expertise and achievements,” BlueCross BlueShield’s President and CEO, David W. Anderson said. “I’m confident that he will successfully lead our efforts to attract, advance, and retain an engaged and diverse workforce dedicated to our members in the markets we serve.”
Parks earned a master’s degree in learning and organizational change from Northwestern University and a bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership from Purdue University.
He is also a member of Society for Human Resource Professionals (SHRM) and the National Association for African-Americans in Human Resources (NAAAHR).
