Family, friends, and beliefs play a major role in the way we select foods and plan meals. These programs will assist you and describe some of the many different and pleasurable ways to combine foods to make healthful diets.

Some of the guidelines for Americans include:

  • Eat a variety of foods
  • Balance the food you eat with physical activity
  • Maintain or improve your percentage of body fat
  • Choose a diet with plenty of whole grain products, vegetables, and fruits.
  • Choose a diet low in fat, saturated fat, and cholesterol
  • Choose a diet moderate in sugars
  • Choose a diet moderate in salt and sodium
