The Albany Institute of History & Art

 

Located in downtown Albany is dedicated to collecting, preserving, interpreting and promoting interest in the history, art and culture of Albany and the upper Hudson Valley region.

Currently featuring Baseball: America’s Game

Serves 48,000 people each year and offer classes, exhibits and programs for the 11 counties surrounding its Troy, NY location.

Albany Symphony Orchestra

 

Performs in three locations: The Palace Theatre in Albany, the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall, and the Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center in Troy, NY.

Park Playhouse

 

In the Capital District produces FREE musicals and plays in an outdoor setting, and provides arts education programs to the young members of the community.

Sports teams

 

The region is home to the Siena Saints basketball team and the Albany Devils hockey team, playing at the Times Union Center. You can cheer on the Tri-City ValleyCats baseball team by heading over the Hudson river. Or sit back and enjoy the thoroughbred race season at nearby Saratoga Race Track.

Activities include sailing, skiing (water and snow), swimming, cycling, fishing (including ice fishing), windsurfing, golfing, hiking, horseback riding, kayaking, canoeing, hunting, jet skiing...and when the wind is right, people even surf Lake Erie.
